Yesterday evening when I was trying to catch some ZZZs before having to head to work, I couldn't get to sleep since it was so bright in my room. My bedroom windows face the west, so it's a little difficult to sleep in the afternoon/evening. I finally got fed up with it after lying there for over half an hour (it usually only takes me around 15 minutes once I lie down) and decided to "foil up" my windows. I took a brand-new roll of aluminum foil and covered one of my windows. It helped tremendously and I was able to get to sleep several mintues later. This morning I put foil on the other one and it was quite dark in my room, compared to what it was like before. But now, this afternoon, I got a phone call around 2 pm and wasn't able to get back to sleep, probably because of the light. I laid there for over an hour when I finally decided to get up after only 5 hours of sleep. I might get a nap in before heading up to F'ville, but doubtful since I'm going to my folks house for some TV tonight.
Any suggestions on what else I could do?
Rae has a sleep mask that comes in quite handy when she gets a migraine. I don't think it's a hibermate, though, but it does the trick.
Also, turn off the ringer on your phone. If your phone's ringer can't be turned all the way off, get one that can. Then make sure your answering machine is turned on (but also turned all the way down) or get voicemail through the phone company. If it's important, they'll leave a message.
