Temptation
This week's "theme" for Lent is temptation. The OT lesson, the fall of Adam; the Psalm, pleading for cleansing; the Gospel, the temptation of Christ after His fasting in the wilderness.
I've recently begun reading the daily office from the '79 BCP. (FYI, we're in year 1 with that and year A for the lectionary.)
After reading Deut 8:11-20 , I'm comforted by Hebrews 2:10-18
Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted. (17-18)Amen and amen.

Amen and Amen. Makes His work that much more precious doesn't it. He really was hungry those 40 days in the wilderness with Satan. He really was thirsty. He really was tempted to turn the stones into bread. He really did perfectly obey through it all.
